2021 China DevOps Survey: How Mature Are Enterprises Across Industries?
The 2021 China DevOps Survey, launched by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology with nearly 40 industry partners, invites organizations to assess their DevOps maturity, offers a free report and gifts, and builds on 2020 findings that show growing adoption and varied maturity levels across sectors.

Chinese enterprises are accelerating digital transformation and improving IT capabilities, with DevOps gaining widespread recognition. Since 2019, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) has conducted annual DevOps status surveys, publishing reports in 2019 and 2020.
The third survey, launched in 2021, is jointly organized by nearly 40 leading companies, including major banks, cloud providers, and technology firms. Participants are invited to complete an online questionnaire based on the CAICT DevOps Capability Maturity Model, which provides a real‑time assessment of their organization’s DevOps maturity.
Respondents will receive a free copy of the forthcoming 2021 China DevOps State Report (to be released in Q3) and may win commemorative gifts from sponsoring organizations.
Data from the 2020 survey (1,858 valid responses) showed that DevOps adoption is highest in the internet, technology, telecom, and finance sectors, with overall industry adoption increasing compared to previous years.
The 2020 results also revealed the following maturity distribution: 43.66% of enterprises are at the basic level, 26.56% at the comprehensive level (an 8.49% increase from 2019), 12.18% at the excellent level, and 0.85% at the outstanding level, which features full‑process data‑driven and intelligent DevOps.
