AI and Education Forum Highlights: Large Models Driving Industry and Educational Innovation

Generative AI is bringing changes to social structure and talent demand, and the development of large‑model technology is redefining the boundaries of education and industry. In the era of “AI+Education” integration, on November 22, Hong Kong Education University celebrated its 30th anniversary, and the Hong Kong Education University AI Research and Education Alliance organized an “Artificial Intelligence and Education Forum”, gathering outstanding scholars and corporate representatives from home and abroad to discuss how AI technology can unleash potential in education and drive innovation. The Alliance aims to build a global collaboration platform focusing on the broad applications of AI in education.

As the first domestically self‑developed, open‑source, industry‑grade deep learning platform, Baidu’s PaddlePaddle contributed an industry perspective to the event. At the forum, Zeng Xudong, Head of AI Technology Ecosystem for South China at Baidu, delivered a keynote titled “Industrial Development of AI Large Models and Educational Innovation Practice”, exploring how AI and large‑model technologies drive industrial transformation, and presenting the latest practices of PaddlePaddle in AI‑industry‑education integration and talent cultivation, as well as experiences from school‑enterprise cooperation.

He emphasized that breakthroughs from large language models to generative AI not only lead to industrial upgrades but also pose new requirements for talent development. PaddlePaddle has long been committed to co‑creating interdisciplinary, practice‑oriented AI talent with universities, leveraging its deep learning framework and the Wenxin large model, together with platforms such as Wenxin Yiyan and Xinghe Community. PaddlePaddle has accumulated rich experience in general‑education course construction, talent training program design, competition empowerment, and educational application development. Currently, PaddlePaddle is exploring multiple industry‑academia integration models, including the PaddlePaddle Education Innovation Center, AI+X industry‑academia research bases, and university AI4S scientific cooperation, to shape a nationwide education ecosystem.

The successful forum represents a valuable exploration of AI‑education integration in Hong Kong and marks a new starting point for cooperation between PaddlePaddle and the Hong Kong Education University AI Research and Education Alliance. Experts and corporate representatives discussed Hong Kong’s AI+Education development, providing fresh ideas for Baidu’s AI ecosystem in talent education and industry‑academia integration. Going forward, PaddlePaddle will continue to deepen its involvement in AI‑education frontiers, actively participating in Hong Kong’s education ecosystem construction, and aim to cultivate more high‑quality, interdisciplinary AI talent worldwide through the deep linkage of education, talent, industry, and innovation chains.
