Ant Financial ATEC Conference Highlights: AI, Blockchain, Security, IoT, and Computing Initiatives

On the afternoon of January 19 (U.S. time), Ant Financial hosted the ATEC (Ant Technology Exploration Conference) with the theme “New Technology, Bringing the world equal opportunity,” marking its first overseas event in Silicon Valley to introduce and demonstrate its technological capabilities to the local tech community.

The conference featured prominent fintech leaders from academia and industry, including Turing Award winner and MIT CSAIL director Silvio Micali, Ripple partner director Emi Yoshikawa, prediction‑market founder Lin Xiahong, JPMorgan Digital Channels director Umar Farooq, as well as Ant Financial executives such as VP and Chief Architect Hu Xi, VP and Chief Data Scientist Qi Yuan, and VP and Head of the Technology Lab Jiang Guofei.

Ant Financial’s Vice President and Chief Architect Hu Xi explained that the BASIC strategy—comprising Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Security, IoT, and Computing—forms the foundation of the company’s future technology layout, driving inclusive financial services for consumers and small‑medium enterprises.

In the past year, Ant Financial opened AI‑driven capabilities such as intelligent wealth management, image assessment, and smart customer service; upgraded its Ant Financial Cloud; and released ZOLOZ’s biometric identification services, blockchain solutions for food and product traceability, and risk‑control cloud services addressing fraud, scalping, and other security challenges.

These technologies are already embedded in products like NetBank and Alipay, and the open‑source push reflects Ant Financial’s commitment to solving societal problems through tech innovation.

ATEC: A Premier Forum for Frontier Technologies

The conference sparked discussions on AI applications in fintech and the potential of blockchain to reshape the industry, with speakers from both academia and enterprise sharing insights.

Chief Data Scientist Qi Yuan highlighted how Ant Financial leverages massive business scenarios to drive continuous AI innovation, building advanced AI financial platforms for partners and customers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and manage risk.

Ant Financial aims to use ATEC to showcase its technology roadmap worldwide, with future events planned in Singapore, London, and other fintech hubs, continuing the tradition of the largest annual tech summit it hosts in China.
