Build an AI-Powered Animation Service with Serverless Function Compute

Introduction

With a single image and a few keywords, AI can generate a script starring yourself and turn it into an animation, making personalized stories easy and opening new creative and commercial opportunities.

Tutorial Overview

This article explains how to use Alibaba Cloud Function Compute (FC) to build a web service that automates the entire animation creation pipeline—from script generation, illustration, voice synthesis, and subtitle creation to video composition.

Architecture

The solution consists of:

One FC application deploying two functions: ComfyUI and WebUI.

An OSS bucket for storing images, audio, and video.

Alibaba Cloud Baichuan model service for script generation, speech synthesis, and subtitle creation.

Creating Resources with the FC Application Template

Open the FC application template link: https://fcnext.console.aliyun.com/applications/create?template=animation-creation&deployType=template-direct

Configure parameters as shown in the table (deployment type, application name, role name, region, Baichuan API‑KEY, OSS bucket name, RAM role ARN).

Click “Create and Deploy Default Environment”. After deployment, the example site URL appears.

Accessing the Example Application

Find the domain name in the environment details and open it to view the demo.

Generating Videos with the Official Example

Use the default character description and script prompt to generate a video.

Click “Generate Video” and wait about five minutes for the result.

Customizing Scripts for New Year Videos

Customize character images, descriptions, and prompt words to generate personalized New Year animation videos.
