Can iOS 26.0–26.0.1 Be Jailbroken? Current Status and DarkSword Exploit

As of now, iOS 17.4 through iOS 26.0.1 lack a functional jailbreak, though developer opa334 has released the DarkSword kernel exploit that provides read‑write capabilities for iOS 26.0.1 and earlier, but practical jailbreaking remains difficult.

Can iOS 26.0–26.0.1 Be Jailbroken? Current Status and DarkSword Exploit

OS 17.4 up to iOS 26.0.1 currently has no publicly available jailbreak, meaning users cannot obtain root access or install unsigned applications on these versions.

opa334, a prominent iOS jailbreak developer known for high‑level kernel vulnerability exploitation, created the influential tools TrollStore and Dopamine. TrollStore leverages a CoreTrust vulnerability to let users install any app permanently without a jailbreak. Dopamine 1.0 and 2.0, built on the Fugu15 foundation, support iOS 15.0–16.6.1, provide computer‑free signing, persist after reboot, and run on devices from A12 through A17.

The tools emphasize a root‑less approach, aiming for stability, a clean environment, and minimal modifications to the system internals, which has earned them strong adoption among users of newer iOS versions.

Recently, opa334 posted on Mastodon about a new kernel exploit named DarkSword. The exploit grants kernel read/write capabilities and is compatible with iOS 26.0.1 and earlier versions. However, the author notes that achieving a full jailbreak on some devices remains challenging and will require additional time and work.
