Cascadia Code 2404.23: New Features and Nerd Font Variants
Cascadia Code 2404.23, Microsoft’s open‑source monospaced font, adds quarter, sixth and eighth block mosaics, Large Type Pieces, extra computing symbols, and introduces two Nerd Font variants—Cascadia Code NF and Cascadia Mono NF—enhancing terminal and editor visuals and enabling deeper customization with tools like Oh My Posh.
Cascadia Code is an open‑source monospaced font released by Microsoft at the 2019 Build conference together with Windows Terminal. It improves the visual experience of command‑line and code editors and supports Programming Ligatures, which combine characters into new glyphs for better readability.
The latest major update, Cascadia Code 2404.23, adds quarter, sixth and eighth block mosaics, Large Type Pieces, additional traditional computing symbols, and two new Nerd Font variants – Cascadia Code NF and Cascadia Mono NF – containing the latest Nerd Font glyphs as of April 2024.
These enhancements make the font richer for terminal applications, and the Nerd Font variants can be combined with tools like Oh My Posh for further customization. Links to the release notes and blog post are provided for deeper exploration.
