China’s First Big Data Batch‑Stream Integration Standard GB/T 44216‑2024 Explained

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the country's first big‑data batch‑stream integration national standard GB/T 44216‑2024 “Information Technology Big Data Batch‑Stream Integration Computing Technical Requirements”, drafted by Alibaba Cloud and effective from 1 February 2025.

The standard provides a clear definition of batch‑stream integration technology and requires systems to support both real‑time and offline computing models, possessing key capabilities such as unified resource management, unified computing framework, unified API, unified SQL interface, unified job management, unified permission management, and elastic scalability.

Batch‑stream integration is an emerging trend in big data. With the growth of the Internet, enterprises in e‑commerce recommendation, transportation logistics, financial transaction monitoring and other scenarios increasingly demand large‑scale real‑time data processing, which traditional batch processing cannot meet in latency; therefore, merging stream processing with batch processing under a unified framework becomes essential.

As a domestic leader in big data, Alibaba Cloud initiated the national standard project in 2019, collaborating with industry partners to draft and refine it. Leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s experience with the Flink‑based real‑time computing version and extensive industry practice, the standard aims to promote the development of batch‑stream integration technology, guide the design, development and deployment of domestic systems, and accelerate its adoption across industries.

Alibaba Cloud has built a strong technical foundation in big data, offering a full‑stack of services from data processing and warehousing to AI engineering. Its flagship products such as MaxCompute, DataWorks and Hologres deliver industry‑leading performance, elasticity and stability, while the company also contributes to top‑level open‑source projects like Apache Flink and Apache Paimon, providing developers with rich tool choices and fully managed cloud services.
