Connect OpenClaw AI Bot to WeChat Using the New ClawBot Plugin

WeChat released an official plugin called ClawBot that allows users to connect the OpenClaw AI robot directly from the WeChat app, eliminating the need for unofficial third‑party extensions that might lead to account restrictions.

The plugin works on WeChat version v8.0.70 or later; older versions do not support it.

Installation Steps

Update WeChat to v8.0.70 or newer.

On a device that already has the OpenClaw AI robot installed, run the following NPM command to install the WeChat CLI plugin:

npx -y @tencent-weixin/openclaw-weixin-cli@latest install

After the installation finishes, a QR code will appear automatically. Scan it with WeChat to authorize and link the bot.

Important notes:

The current plugin does not provide shortcut commands. If the QR code expires or you need to re‑bind, repeat the installation command.

Only the /status command works; commands like /model cannot list providers. To switch models, use /model <provider/model> directly.

ClawBot can receive messages for up to 24 hours after they are sent. If no user message is sent within that window, any pending OpenClaw messages are discarded. For scheduled reports, ensure the bot receives at least one user message every 24 hours to keep the session alive.
