DeepSeek Bot: Community Multi-Agent Framework for Autonomous AI Teams
DeepSeek Bot (ds bot) is a community-developed open-source plugin for DeepSeek Harness that creates persistent AI agents with independent memory, coordinated by a chief bot that manages group chats, task delegation, and model configuration, enabling multi-agent collaboration with local data storage and usage tracking.
Introduction
DeepSeek Bot (ds bot) is an open-source community project built on top of DeepSeek Harness (DSH). It is not an official DeepSeek product. The plugin turns DSH into a set of persistent bots, each with its own context and memory, allowing continuous work in a single window without repeatedly providing background.
Chief Bot: Team Coordinator
ds bot includes a pre-configured chief bot named Chief . Chief has broad permissions: it manages other bots, creates group chats, and assigns tasks. On first launch, the user simply tells Chief what they want to accomplish, and Chief assembles the required bot team.
In practice, Chief introduces itself, then creates a group chat and invites the appropriate bots based on the user's request.
Each bot can be independently configured with a specific model. The developer recommends keeping a bot on a single model long-term and switching only when necessary. The bot detail page shows the model, memory, and usage statistics.
Group Chats: Multi-Bot Collaboration
Group chats are the primary mechanism for multi-bot collaboration. Multiple bots responding simultaneously can consume significant tokens. ds bot optimizes this by designating a group admin (by default Chief) that replies to the user and decides which bots to invoke. Users can also directly @ a specific bot to get a direct answer.
This mechanism balances collaboration and cost. Usage statistics are available in Settings → Usage , broken down by time, bot, and model.
Installation
Prerequisite: DSH must be installed with at least one model configured. ds bot reuses DSH's model configuration.
DSH Desktop (Windows/macOS)
Open the sidebar, go to Plugins → Add plugin .
Enter package name ds-bot; for users in mainland China, switch the registry to a domestic mirror.
Install and enable, then restart DSH as prompted.
DSH Web (Windows/macOS/Linux)
Requires Node.js 22.19+ and pnpm.
npx @deepseek-ai/[email protected] plugin --profile web add ds-bot
npx @deepseek-ai/[email protected] webLocal Data Storage
All data is saved in the DSH directory (default ~/.dsh) under bot/ and sessions/. Uninstalling the plugin does not delete the data.
Compatibility and Roadmap
The author tested several DSH plugins: dsh-web-ui-all, dsh-browser, dsh-ads, and multiple memory plugins. Most work normally. Known issues: dsh-web-ui-all causes startup failure on macOS; dsh-ads is a placeholder package.
Next steps: browser automation is confirmed for the next version; computer automation is still under permission design consideration. The developer plans to open-source more techniques, methods, and design trade-offs used during development. Future support for integrating local agents to leverage existing AI subscriptions is also planned.
The project is a personal interest project by a community developer, not an official release. Combined with DSH's early stage, the project has a long way to maturity.
