EasyExcel Enters Maintenance Mode and Launches New EasyExcel-Plus Project

EasyExcel, a widely used Java Excel library originally open‑sourced by Alibaba, has announced that it will cease adding new features and move into a maintenance‑only phase, fixing bugs but not expanding functionality.

The author also revealed a new initiative called EasyExcel-Plus , which aims to build on the original library with higher performance, richer memory‑optimization strategies, and broader data‑format support.

Official benchmarks show the original EasyExcel can read a 75 MB Excel file (approximately 460 000 rows and 25 columns) using only 16 MB of memory in 23 seconds (version 3.2.1+).

From the project's GitHub commit history, EasyExcel has been maintained for six years, closing over 3,000 issues, reflecting a strong commitment to addressing developer needs.

The author, formerly a member of Alibaba, plans to release EasyExcel-Plus by the end of November, offering a free, open‑source solution with improved efficiency and stability for existing EasyExcel users.

Developers are encouraged to follow the new project, contribute, and adopt it for broader scenarios. The repository is available at https://github.com/CodePhiliaX/easyexcel-plus .
