Google Launches AI-Powered Image Generation in Search Generative Experience (SGE)

On October 13, Google announced that starting this Thursday, its Search Generative Experience (SGE) will allow users to create images directly from textual prompts.

According to Google, users often struggle to find the exact image they need. With the new AI‑driven image generation feature, a user could request, for example, "draw a capybara wearing a chef hat and cooking breakfast" and receive up to four generated images in the search results.

Users can further edit the description and add details to refine the vision.

Google also introduced an "About this image" feature within SGE, which helps users assess the background and credibility of images by showing information such as when Google first indexed similar versions or other webpages that use the same image, including news or fact‑checking sites.

Additionally, SGE now includes a written draft tool that can shorten drafts or change the tone to a more casual style; completed drafts can be easily exported to Google Docs or Gmail.

These AI features are now part of Google’s Search Labs program, and users can sign up for the experience through the Google app or Chrome client.
