The 20th China Information and Communication Security Conference (CCICS 2023) was co‑hosted by the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ant Group on December 1 at the Beijing West Suburban Hotel.

Prominent speakers included Academician Feng Dengguo, Academician Yin Hao, Academician Zhang Hongke, Ant Group Vice President and Chief Technology Security Officer Wei Tao, and Professor Li Hui from Xidian University, among others, who examined trends and research outcomes in 5G, new‑type internet, native security, privacy computing, artificial intelligence, and large‑model technologies.

Academician Feng emphasized the need for rapid adaptation of cyberspace security to serve national and societal demands, while Institute of Software leadership expressed hopes that the symposium would inspire new directions for the discipline.

Academician Yin presented a report on "Security Issues of 5G Integrated Applications," highlighting new security challenges arising from deep integration of 5G with vertical industry services, such as insufficient risk awareness, fragmented solutions, and unclear mapping between industry security needs and 5G security capabilities. He called for advances in edge computing, network slicing, open networking, and boundary protection.

Academician Zhang discussed the strategic importance of new‑type internet technologies, stressing the necessity of autonomous, replaceable, and compatible networks to avoid dependence on foreign infrastructure and to meet high‑mobility, high‑reliability, and low‑latency requirements.

Wei Tao shared Ant Group’s "security parallel‑slice" system, a pioneering framework that enables dynamic, trustworthy control from deployment to internal system monitoring, enhancing security intelligence and governance efficiency for complex digital enterprises.

The conference also featured reports from professors at Xidian University, Fudan University, Beijing Institute of Technology, China Electric Power Research Institute, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, and researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Since its inception in 1999 by Academician Feng and colleagues, CCICS has become a key platform for analyzing the development of cyberspace security, presenting cutting‑edge research, and fostering industry‑academic exchange in China.
