How a Leading Chinese Securities Firm Accelerates DevOps with the Enterprise Empowerment Program

On May 21‑22, 2021, the 16th GOPS Global Operations Conference was held in Shenzhen, attracting experts from major firms such as Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Ping An Bank, Tencent, JD.com and Alibaba.

The event, guided by the Open Source Cloud Computing Industry Alliance (OSCAR) and co‑hosted by GreatOPS and OOPSA, is the largest domestic operations summit, aimed at sharing advanced technology ideas and best practices with IT professionals from internet, finance and telecom sectors.

During the conference, the latest batch of Enterprise‑level DevOps Empowerment (Co‑promotion) program partners was announced, with Dr. He Baohong, Director of the Cloud Computing and Big Data Institute at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, presenting the awards.

In an interview, Xue Haibo, Head of Planning Architecture at First Capital Securities, explained why his company joined the DevOps program and described its DevOps practices.

Company background: First Capital Securities Co., Ltd. is a full‑license investment bank focused on fixed‑income and asset‑management, headquartered in Shenzhen with a registered capital of CNY 4.2024 billion and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (code 002797).

Why the DevOps Empowerment program is attractive: The program, jointly launched by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, OSCAR and OOPSA, helps enterprises quickly build professional DevOps capability systems and provides a platform for learning from leading domestic and international experts.

First Capital Securities is currently in a digital transformation phase, increasing investment in fintech, system construction and technical talent. The DevOps program matches its need to refine capability models and reshape platforms, processes and organization, creating a flexible and robust digital product supply chain for customers.

Since 2015, the company has practiced agile and continuous integration, built a DevOps platform using mainstream open‑source components, and begun container‑based migration for some projects. The platform links development, testing and production, achieving a closed loop from version planning to release.

From 2019, the company adopted the DevOps capability maturity model released by the China Academy, conducting maturity assessments for product teams, adding automation testing staff and a DevOps enablement team, and continuously improving its maturity level.
