How Chinese Financial Firms Are Raising Their DevOps Maturity
The 21st GOPS Global Operations Conference in Shanghai unveiled the latest DevOps capability maturity assessment results, highlighting first‑time evaluations across exchanges, securities and fund companies, detailed improvements in delivery speed, test coverage and automation, and introducing the comprehensive DevOps standards now adopted industry‑wide.
On October 26, 2023, the 21st GOPS Global Operations Conference was held in Shanghai, jointly organized by the Efficient Operations Community and DevOps Era Community.
The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) announced the latest batch of DevOps capability maturity assessment results, a series of standards guiding enterprise DevOps implementation.
Participants from banking, securities, insurance, telecom and internet sectors took part, with many first‑time assessments from exchanges, securities and fund companies.
Highlights include: Shanghai Stock Exchange Technology Co. passed Level 3 Continuous Delivery assessment for its “New Options Trading System”; Zhengzhou Yisheng Information Technology Co. achieved Level 3 for two projects, reducing delivery cycles from 30 to about 7 days and improving test coverage; China International Capital Corp. passed three assessments covering DevSecOps and Continuous Testing, with notable improvements in test process and quality metrics; China Merchants Securities passed four assessments, including Level 3 Continuous Delivery and Level 3 Agile Development, and outlined its “14th‑5th” digital plan; Shenwan Hongyuan Securities became one of the first to pass Level 3 Continuous Testing, reporting gains in demand, test and quality management; Everbright Securities passed Level 3 Continuous Delivery, enhancing automation and security checks; Dongguan Securities passed Level 3 Continuous Delivery, achieving high code‑coverage and rapid integration metrics; China CICC Wealth passed Level 2 Technical Operations, improving capacity, cost management and automated change deployment.

The DevOps Capability Maturity Model, jointly developed by CAICT, the Cloud Computing Open Source Industry Alliance, the Efficient Operations Community, major internet companies and leading financial and telecom enterprises, is the first comprehensive DevOps standard in China and has been adopted by many top firms. It was also accepted as an international standard by ITU‑T in July 2020.
