How CICC’s Tianji DevOps Platform Earned Top‑Tier Evaluation in China’s DevOps Standards

CAICT Digital Governance opened the 2021 GOLF+ IT New Governance Leadership Forum, focusing on new governance and XOPS innovation, and announced the release of the third‑batch DevOps standard system and tool assessment results.

China International Capital Corp (CICC) participated in the assessment with its Tianji DevOps platform. The platform’s pipeline module passed the excellent level, indicating a leading domestic position in DevOps system and tool capabilities.

Interview highlights

Li Jianming (Director, IT Department, CICC): CICC, founded in 1995, combined international and Chinese market experience to drive digital transformation. In 2021, the Tianji platform provided continuous integration and deployment across design, development, testing, release, and maintenance, significantly improving delivery maturity.

Li Jianming: Passing the excellent evaluation validates the platform’s practical implementation and the credibility of the CAICT DevOps standards.

Li Jianming: An end‑to‑end, standardized toolchain is essential for agile delivery and aligns technology with business needs while meeting regulatory and security requirements.

Ye Mingdeng (Executive GM, IT Department, CICC): Future plans include refining the R&D system, deepening tool integration, and advancing three development stages:

Platformization: Build the DevOps toolchain, raise awareness, and achieve initial efficiency gains.

Lean phase: Establish a measurement system for the entire development lifecycle, enable automated, visualized production, and enhance business competitiveness.

Integration phase: Extend coverage to business, testing, quality, and operations, creating a closed‑loop DevOps lifecycle that drives continuous business innovation.

Fang Fei (Deputy GM, IT Department, CICC): Standardized DevOps toolchains are the foundation for scaling digital transformation, improving efficiency by more than three times compared to manual releases.

Cao Wenwen (Key contributor, Tianji DevOps platform): Discussed challenges in meeting strict assessment standards and rapidly promoting the toolchain across a growing organization while ensuring compliance and security.

DevOps Maturity Model

The DevOps capability maturity model, jointly created by CAICT, industry alliances, and leading internet and financial companies, is the first comprehensive DevOps standard in China and has been recognized as an international standard by ITU‑T in 2020. The model covers agile management, continuous delivery, technical operations, application design, security and risk management, and system & tool evaluation.

Industry data shows that, as of December 24, 2021, numerous securities firms have participated in the DevOps maturity assessments, with detailed statistics on the number of projects evaluated at various levels.
