How CITIC Bank’s DevOps Maturity Journey Sets New Industry Benchmarks

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) leads the "Research and Development Operations Integration (DevOps) Capability Maturity Model" series, which provides high‑value guidance for enterprises adopting DevOps to improve IT efficiency.

As of April 25, 2024, CITIC Bank has completed numerous DevOps assessments, including 16 items in 2024 (4 continuous delivery, 2 security & risk management, 8 system & tool, 1 BizDevOps, 1 performance measurement).

No.1 – 2024

By April 2024, CITIC Bank passed four assessments, and its project "Integrated Platform for Development and Operations (IPDO)" achieved a BizDevOps standard evaluation.

No.2 – 2023

In December 2023, the "GOLF + IT New Governance Leadership Forum" announced that CITIC Bank’s "Technology Efficiency Management System" passed the innovative leading‑level evaluation of the generic performance measurement model.

No.3 – 2022

In December 2022, CITIC Bank’s "Test Service Cloud Platform" received two excellent‑level system and tool assessments, and the "Five‑Leap Quality Control Platform" received five excellent‑level assessments, covering performance testing, UI testing, mobile automation, test data management, interface testing, case management, and test plan management.

The bank developed diverse automation tools, integrating multiple interface testing tools and achieving cross‑platform script reuse, while continuously optimizing performance testing capabilities.

No.4 – 2020

At the 14th GOPS Global Operations Conference in Shenzhen, CITIC Bank’s "Integrated Development and Operations Platform" passed the excellent‑level system and tool assessment.

No.5 – 2019

In December 2019, three projects—new personal mobile banking, asset custody clearing system, and quick collaboration platform—passed the continuous delivery level‑3 assessment, demonstrating leading domestic capabilities.

The assessments helped CITIC Bank optimize foundational resource services, promote automation platforms, improve CMDB governance, and deliver services via cloud and PaaS, accelerating resource delivery efficiency across the data center.

The DevOps Capability Maturity Model, jointly developed by CAICT, the Cloud Computing Open Source Industry Alliance, the Efficient Operations Community, BATJ, and major financial and telecom enterprises, is recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the ITU‑T (standard Y.3525).

The model covers agile development management, continuous delivery, technical operations, application design, security & risk management, system & tool, business value management, collaborative development and operations, continuous testing, performance measurement, platform engineering, and reliability engineering.
