How Node.js v17.6 Enables Direct HTTP/HTTPS Module Imports
Node.js v17.6 introduces an experimental feature that lets developers import modules straight from HTTP or HTTPS URLs, closing the gap with Deno and mirroring the HTTPS import capability of ES6 modules in browsers.
Not long ago, Node.js version 17.5.0 experimentally introduced a built‑in
fetch()function. With the release of version 17.6.0, Node.js added another experimental feature that allows importing modules directly from HTTP or HTTPS URLs. This eliminates a key difference between Node.js and Deno, which already permits HTTPS imports, and aligns with the capability of ES6 modules in browsers to import modules over HTTPS.
