How Suzhou Bank’s Mobile Banking 5.0 Sets a New Standard for DevOps in Banking

On June 28, the 23rd GOPS Global Operations Conference and XOps Technology Innovation Summit was held in Beijing. At the conference, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology announced the results of the dual certification assessment of the ITU DevOps International Standard and the domestic DevOps standard. Suzhou Bank’s project “Mobile Banking 5.0 Back‑Office System” passed the ITU DevOps International Standard assessment and achieved Level 3 continuous delivery assessment of the domestic standard, reaching a leading level in China.

Mobile Banking 5.0 built a unified internet business middle platform for Suzhou Bank, based on a distributed micro‑service architecture with seven service centers. It provides unified access, user management, transaction processing, risk control, and product management across mobile banking, online banking and other electronic channels. The platform also incorporates voice‑semantic recognition, biometric authentication, anti‑fraud, FIDO identity verification, and SMS security hardening, integrated with login, payment, and transfer functions to deliver safer, more convenient services. This fundamentally solved common pain points for small‑to‑medium banks such as inefficient code management, version conflicts, fragmented development‑operations, and manual‑operation failures, markedly improving development delivery quality and efficiency.

Since 2016, Suzhou Bank has explored unified build and automated deployment for application versions, enhancing deployment efficiency and production success rates. Leveraging its version‑management expertise, the bank authored the Jiangsu provincial local standard “Financial Institution Information Technology System Operation and Maintenance Automated Delivery Specification” (DB 32/T 3884‑2020), released in November 2020. In 2023, the bank launched a DevOps platform to establish an organization‑wide integrated R&D service system, creating a one‑stop, full‑process continuous delivery platform that enables visualized, traceable, measurable, and profiled IT lifecycle management.

Looking ahead, Suzhou Bank will use pilot projects as benchmarks to further optimize organization‑level application development and delivery capabilities, innovate comprehensive financial products and services, and leverage financial strength to support the development of new‑quality productive forces.
