How Xiaohongshu’s Security Team Achieved Zero Defense Losses in Shanghai’s 2024 “Panshi Action”

On December 11, 2024, Xiaohongshu’s information security team participated in Shanghai’s annual “Panshi Action” cyber‑defense exercise, a large‑scale red‑blue network combat event organized by the Shanghai Municipal Communications Administration.

The team secured first place among blue teams, receiving the “Excellent Blue Team” and “Outstanding Achievement” awards, and topped the official “Panshi Dragon‑Tiger List” ranking.

During the exercise, the team deployed advanced security monitoring tools combined with big‑data analysis techniques to conduct full‑scope, real‑time monitoring of network traffic and system logs across the platform. This enabled early detection of anomalous behavior and potential threats.

When attacks were identified, the team promptly activated an emergency response plan, performed forensic tracing, and executed counter‑measures. Over the course of the competition, they successfully traced more than ten attacker entities and neutralized several of them, achieving a “zero defense loss” outcome.

The experience highlighted the importance of the “Panshi Action” as a practical training ground for enhancing real‑world cyber‑defense capabilities. Xiaohongshu’s team plans to continue strengthening technical research and talent development to further contribute to network security and social stability.
