Inside China’s 2022 AIOps Survey: How Intelligent Operations Drive Digital Growth
China’s AIOps industry, highlighted in the 2022 “China AIOps Status Survey” led by CAICT and major telecom and cloud firms, examines the rise of intelligent operations since Gartner’s 2016 definition, detailing its role in digital transformation, infrastructure upgrades, and a detailed five‑month research timeline.
The State Council's "14th Five-Year Plan for Digital Economy Development" notes that the explosive growth of data creates new opportunities for intelligent development. Accelerating intelligent application construction, upgrading all links, and enhancing networked, intelligent, service‑oriented, and collaborative infrastructure are essential, while digitalization drives enterprises to prioritize IT operations for management and innovation.
The concept of intelligent operations (AIOps) was first introduced by Gartner in 2016. With rapid internet and IT advances, digital transformation, and the support of big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, intelligent operations have become indispensable for efficiently managing vast physical assets, pinpointing faults, protecting against network attacks, and rapidly adapting to changing demands.
To better understand China’s AIOps industry, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) led a collaborative effort with members of the Intelligent Operations Standards Committee—including China Unicom, China Mobile, Agricultural Bank of China, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent, Ant Group, JD Technology, Huayou Technology, and Xinju Network—to produce the first domestic "China AIOps Status Survey Report (2022)". The report aims to help enterprises grasp the current state of intelligent operations, promote effective technology adoption, and sustain healthy industry development.
Schedule
Mid‑April 2022: Collection of questionnaire items and discussion of the overall report framework.
Late‑April 2022: Official launch of the survey and distribution of questionnaires.
May 2022: Collection of questionnaire feedback.
June 2022: Discussion and drafting of the report.
July 2022: Formal release of the survey report.
