Master Kotlin for Android with Google’s Free Udacity Courses

Previously, Microsoft released free Python video tutorials for beginners, and now Google has announced two free Kotlin online courses in partnership with Udacity.

Kotlin Bootcamp

This course teaches the basics of Kotlin programming, including writing statements and handling functions, and provides the foundation needed to develop Android apps with Kotlin, offering first‑class support such as Kotlin Android APIs and extensions.

Building Android Apps in Kotlin

Starting from a simple "Hello World" example, the course guides learners through building a multi‑screen Google Developer Group (GDG) Finder app. Each lesson uses a real‑world architecture to implement key features, introducing Android Jetpack components like databases, WorkManager, and Navigation.

The curriculum also covers popular libraries that simplify common tasks, such as Glide for image loading, Retrofit for networking, and Moshi for JSON parsing, and teaches core Kotlin features like coroutines to write concise, efficient code.

Overall, the two courses comprise more than ten hands‑on applications and are part of Google’s free Codelabs developer resources.
