This technical salon, hosted by Meituan-Dianping's technology team, invites experts to share frontline practical experiences across major technical domains. With Meituan-Dianping's O2O business experiencing rapid growth, data center complexity and operational maintenance complexity have deepened accordingly. Business demands for operations have also raised higher standards - fast iteration, rapid delivery, and quick maintenance have become basic requirements. Under such scale and speed requirements, operational automation is clearly a necessity. However, operational automation is not as simple as developing tools or web pages; if not done well, it can create as many problems as it solves. How to do operational automation well, with what kind of philosophy and approach, is an ongoing exploration question. This salon selects three representative products from Meituan-Dianping's automation system (including DB automation platform, service tree, Puppet web-based management) to explain our understanding of automation from different angles. We also invited colleagues from Shanghai Zhaogang Network to share their automation practices.
