OpenClaw 2026.3.1 Update: 252K Stars, Beats React, New AI & Feishu Features

OpenClaw 2026.3.1 has been officially released, incorporating more than ninety pull requests. The update brings two major selling points.

1. Sharper "claw" – model upgrades

The tool now supports Claude's adaptive reasoning, automatically selecting Low, Medium, or High thinking levels based on task difficulty, and improves OpenAI integration with lower latency and smoother chat experience. This is achieved by switching the transport layer to WebSocket, which offers a warm‑up mechanism that reduces first‑round response delay.

For simple queries such as “What’s the weather today?”, Claude can skip heavy reasoning and return an answer directly, saving tokens. The new settings take effect immediately unless a specific reasoning level is forced.

2. More friendly for domestic users

Feishu integration receives a major upgrade: users can now create or modify tables, upload images and files directly from Feishu documents, and schedule automated data‑filling tasks. The Cron scheduling page now supports Chinese‑English toggle, and all UI labels, form hints, and validation messages are bilingual.

Android nodes gain extensive system‑level capabilities, including permission handling, SMS reading, battery health checks, camera enumeration, and device health monitoring (battery, storage, temperature, etc.). This dramatically expands automation scenarios on Android devices.

Additional improvements include WebSocket‑based communication for OpenAI services, optional warm‑up configuration, and a Chinese‑localized Web UI. Users are warned to back up their data before upgrading, as some have reported memory loss after the update.

The star count on GitHub surged to 252 K, overtaking React and becoming the most starred repository in GitHub history, though the article notes that React’s ecosystem impact remains significant.
