PHP array_count_values() – Counting the Frequency of Values in an Array

The PHP function array_count_values() returns an associative array where each key is a value from the input array and each value is the number of times that key appears.

It takes a single parameter $input , which is the array to be analyzed. The function returns an array mapping each distinct value to its count. Non‑string and non‑integer elements trigger an E_WARNING .
