Qunar & Keep Technical Salon: DevOps Continuous Delivery and Test Environment Management Practices
The September 7, 2020 technical salon hosted by Qunar's infrastructure R&D team, in collaboration with Keep, gathered over 20 engineering experts to discuss DevOps continuous delivery, test environment management platforms such as Noah, Portal, MPortal, and Thanos, and share practical experiences and architectural choices.
On the afternoon of September 7, 2020, the highly anticipated "Noah Helps Alleviate Environmental Pain—Technical Salon" was successfully held in the Emei Mountain conference room on the eighth floor of Qunar's Weiya Building.
The event, organized by Qunar's Infrastructure R&D and invited by Keep, brought together more than 20 technical elites from both companies, including Keep CTO Peng Yuehui, Keep SRE leader Ji Chao, Keep APP department head Xie Weishen, Qunar Infrastructure R&D CTO Meng Xiangliang, and Qunar Infrastructure Architecture Director Zhu Shizhi, to discuss the implementation of DevOps continuous delivery and test environment management practices.
Qunar Infrastructure R&D CTO Meng Xiangliang opened the salon with a welcome speech, emphasizing the similarity of product challenges between the two companies and expressing hope for mutual learning and growth.
Keep CTO Peng Yuehui thanked Qunar for the opportunity, highlighting Qunar's mature solutions for automated building, deployment, testing, and release, which improve development efficiency, reduce human error, and enable early problem detection.
The technical director of Qunar Infrastructure, Zhu Shizhi, then hosted the session, where four senior engineers presented Qunar's DevOps continuous delivery platform, covering the test environment management platform Noah, CI/CD management platform Portal, mobile developer platform MPortal, and automated API testing platform Thanos.
Speaker Li Pengcheng introduced Noah's features, philosophy, and application management, describing the creation and destruction of test environments.
Speaker Cao Feiguang presented Noah's data management, focusing on test database management and synchronization mechanisms among online, baseline, and test databases.
Speaker Wu Kailiang discussed Noah's soft routing, outlining the technical background and required modifications.
Speaker Zou Sheng concluded with an overview of Noah's IaaS architecture, detailing the underlying stack and technology selection process.
The presentations sparked lively discussions, with participants sharing their own technical pain points and engaging in deep consultations, fostering valuable insights and establishing a community for ongoing exchange.
Note: DevOps (Development and Operations) is a culture and practice that emphasizes collaboration between software developers and IT operations, aiming to automate software delivery and infrastructure changes for faster, more reliable releases.
