Recap of Cloud+ Community Tech Salon – Efficient Intelligent Operations

On November 9, 2019, the Cloud+ Community hosted its 29th technical salon titled “Efficient Intelligent Operations” at Tencent Building in Shenzhen. The event focused on modern operations practices, featuring talks on AIOps, Serverless DevOps, the Blue Whale PaaS platform, and Kubernetes.

Speaker 1 – Zhang Rong (Senior Researcher, Tencent Cloud) presented “Tencent Cloud Intelligent Operations (AIOps) Project Practice”, covering intelligent operation scenarios, single‑dimensional and multi‑dimensional time‑series analysis, current work, and future research directions. He described three stages of intelligent operations: early machine‑learning adoption (1‑2 years), maturing capabilities such as anomaly detection, log extraction, and template analysis with minimal manual intervention, and finally a mature AIOps stage that balances efficiency, quality, and cost.

Speaker 2 – Huang Hongdong (Senior Engineer, Tencent Cloud) shared “Soaring to the Cloud – Tencent’s Massive Business Cloud Migration Practice”. He explained why enterprises move to the cloud, the value of cloud migration, and the migration process, emphasizing three key takeaways: embracing cloud‑native technologies, innovating development models with full‑stack DevOps (CI/CD/CO), and migrating components and tools to the cloud while fostering an engineering culture.

Speaker 3 – Zhang Min (Senior Architect, Jiwei Technology) delivered “Blue Whale R&D Operations PaaS System Practice”. He outlined the evolution from siloed tooling to a PaaS framework that supports CI/CD/CO across development, operations, and service delivery. The Blue Whale platform provides aPaaS (DevOps pipelines, runtime hosting, front‑back frameworks) and iPaaS (continuous integration, CMDB, job scheduling, container management, data platform, AI, etc.) to accelerate enterprise PaaS construction.

Speaker 4 – Kong Lingfei (Senior Architect, Tencent Cloud) presented “Serverless DevOps Best Practices”. The talk introduced Serverless concepts, the operational capabilities it offers, efficiency gains compared with traditional operations, and how to manage operations in a Serverless environment. He noted that Serverless does not eliminate servers but delegates infrastructure management to cloud providers, providing out‑of‑the‑box operational features for both business and system operations.

Speaker 5 – Zhuang Pengrui (Senior Engineer, Tencent Cloud) discussed “Tencent Cloud Kubernetes Cluster Resource Utilization Practices”. He identified four main reasons for low cluster utilization: node resource fragmentation, oversized resource requests in Pods, inaccurate replica count estimation, and idle periods. The session offered practical techniques to improve resource efficiency in Kubernetes clusters.

The salon also included on‑site photos and a QR code for attendees to follow the “Cloud+ Community” public account and reply with the keyword “运维” to download the speakers’ PPTs.
