Unlock the New Dark UI Theme in IntelliJ IDEA 2022.1 EAP

IntelliJ IDEA 2022.1 EAP introduces a refreshed UI that can be enabled manually.

First, download the latest EAP build by searching for "IDEA EAP version download" and installing the package; older stable releases do not contain the new UI.

After installation, open the Settings search (press Shift twice), type registry, locate the entry ide.experimental.ui and check it. Restart the IDE by clicking Close and confirming the restart.

To match the official screenshots, open the Color Scheme settings, find the newly added scheme named New Dark under Color Scheme, and select it.

Note that the top menu bar and some visual elements differ from the official images, and the New Dark scheme is only available in the EAP version; older versions lack it. If you need the theme in an older build, export the settings (File → Export Settings) from the EAP and import them into the target version.

After completing these steps, the IDE will display the new UI with the New Dark color scheme applied.
