vivo Joins CNCF Cloud Native Computing Foundation: Cloud Native Adoption and Practice

vivo has recently completed the new member onboarding process and officially joined the CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) as a member.

CNCF is part of the Linux Foundation and is a vendor-neutral open-source cloud native computing ecosystem organization dedicated to promoting and popularizing cloud native technologies. By joining CNCF, vivo aims to:

Drive the application and development of cloud native technology within vivo

Enable efficient business delivery

Strengthen communication and knowledge sharing with the global cloud native open-source community

Promote sustainable development of the industry cloud native technology ecosystem

Prior to officially joining CNCF, vivo's internal R&D teams actively explored and practiced cloud native technology, applying cloud native projects in multiple business scenarios:

Application Areas: Container orchestration based on Kubernetes, service discovery and load balancing, container image management, log collection and analysis. Using open-source projects and tools such as Openkruise, Helm, Harbor, Containerd, Dragonfly, and Fluentd, vivo achieved container-platform-based application release and management, improving business delivery efficiency and system reliability.

Container Platform Capability Building: Including infrastructure construction, platform architecture design, and operations management. Using Kubernetes and other container orchestration technologies, vivo built a complete container platform covering container cluster operations, container network, storage management, application release, and security management modules, providing stable and reliable container platforms for multiple business lines.

Exploration and Practice: vivo actively explores and practices in the cloud native field, participating in open-source communities and code contributions, continuously exploring and promoting new technologies and their application scenarios. They actively contribute to CNCF Application Delivery TAG and related working groups, promoting platform engineering whitepapers, maturity models, and related practices and standards.

In September 2023, vivo gave two keynote presentations at the Platform Engineering track during KubeCon + CloudNativeCon + Open Source Summit China in Shanghai, organized by the Linux Foundation and CNCF.

Future Plans:

Production Practice: Continue advancing cloud native technology application and development, strengthen containerization and microservices capabilities, explore and practice the latest containerization and microservices technologies, provide feedback to upstream projects, and ultimately improve business delivery efficiency and user experience.

Community Contribution: Use actual problems encountered in enterprise cloud native technology application as driving force, strengthen technical exchange and cooperation with CNCF and other enterprises, actively participate in CNCF project development and related working group contributions, and spread cloud native technology.

About CNCF: CNCF was established in December 2015 as part of the non-profit Linux Foundation. Its mission is to make cloud native technology ubiquitous. CNCF is dedicated to cultivating and maintaining a vendor-neutral open-source ecosystem to promote cloud native technology and host critical components of global technology infrastructure.
