What Pornhub’s 2019 Data Reveals About Global Adult Traffic Trends

01 Pornhub 2019 Global Traffic Trends

In 2019, Pornhub recorded more than 42 billion visits, averaging over 115 million visits per day – roughly the combined populations of Canada, Australia, Poland and the Netherlands – and traffic continued to grow.

Searches reached 39 billion, an increase of 8.7 billion from the previous year.

New videos uploaded totaled 6.84 million, about 14 per minute; the cumulative new‑video duration could fill approximately 170 years of continuous viewing.

Users sent over 70 million private messages and left 11.5 million comments; the most common words were “good”, “love”, “like”, “sexy”, “pretty” and “nice”.

02 Pornhub Top 10 Keywords

The most searched term was “Amateur”, indicating a strong preference for authentic, user‑generated content. Other top terms included “Alien”, “POV”, “Belle Delphine” and “Cosplay”. The nationality keyword “Japanese” remained the top search.

03 Top Pornstars

Lana Rhoades was the most searched pornstar, with 3.45 billion video views. Riley Reid ranked third in searches but had the highest view count at 5.85 billion.

04 Top 20 Traffic Regions

The United States remained the top source of daily visitors, followed by Japan, which rose two positions to second place. Japan’s surge contributed to its higher ranking. India fell 12 places due to government blocking, while Thailand entered the top‑20 for the first time.

05 Average Visit Duration

Average visit time increased by 15 seconds to 10 minutes 28 seconds. Thailand led with the longest average duration (11 minutes 21 seconds), followed by the Netherlands (10 minutes 38 seconds), the United States (10 minutes 36 seconds) and Canada (10 minutes 23 seconds).

06 Gender Statistics

Women accounted for 32 % of users – the highest proportion ever – with the top five countries being the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Australia. Women most frequently watched “lesbian” videos, while men preferred “Japanese” videos. Certain categories differed markedly between genders.

07 Popular Film Characters

The top searched film character was the Avengers, driven by the release of “Avengers: Endgame”. Other highly searched characters included Harley Quinn, Superman, the Teen Titans, “Inside Out”, “Captain Marvel”, “Family Guy”, “Star Wars”, “The Simpsons”, “Black Widow” and the Joker.

In gaming, Overwatch’s D.Va led the list, followed by Lara Croft from “Tomb Raider”, Zelda (Princess) from “The Legend of Zelda”, and other characters such as “Mario”, “Bowser”, “Angel” (Overwatch), “Mei” (Overwatch), “Ada Wong” (Resident Evil), “Ash” (Overwatch) and “Brigitte” (Overwatch).

09 Other Interesting Data

Mobile devices generated 83.7 % of global traffic, with smartphones accounting for 76.6 % and tablets only 7.1 %. PC traffic fell 18 %. iOS surpassed Android for the first time, delivering 52.8 % of traffic despite Android’s larger installed base. Google still supplied 94 % of search‑engine traffic but declined 2 % in 2019, while alternative engines such as Yandex, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia grew modestly.
