What’s New in Calibre 8.10? Key Features and Fixes for Ebook Management

Calibre 8.10 was released on September 5 (local time). Calibre is an open‑source ebook management application written in Python and compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The tool offers library management, ebook format conversion, communication with ebook reader devices, an ebook reader, and metadata and cover search/download capabilities.

A notable new feature is the ability to control tooltips for each column in the book list using templates; users can right‑click a column header and define a tooltip template to display only the details they care about.

The MTP driver has been improved to support creating target locations for audiobook files in specific formats. In the preferences, the keyboard section now supports searching by name as well as by shortcut.

This version also fixes several regressions introduced in earlier releases. The Kindle MTP driver now correctly places APNX files when books are sent to subfolders.

Additionally, the ebook reader’s “Read Aloud” function has been repaired, restoring voice switching when using automatic engine selection, and the Markdown output feature, which previously failed due to a regression, now works correctly.

The update is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms, and the full changelog can be viewed on the official Calibre website.
