What’s New in Grafana 12.3? Interactive Learning, Deep Log Insights, and Expanded Data Sources

Interactive Learning: Quick Access to Resources

Grafana 12.3 introduces Interactive Learning, an in‑platform help system that shows step‑by‑step tutorials, videos and documentation based on the user’s current UI context. The feature is enabled by turning on the interactiveLearning toggle.

Deeper, Faster Log Insights

Log visualization has been rebuilt. A new log panel offers faster rendering, clearer display, color highlighting, adjustable font size, client‑side search and filtering, millisecond‑to‑nanosecond timestamps, and an expanded log detail view (inline expansion or resizable side‑panel). The panel menu now includes a dropdown for context, copy, and AI‑assisted explanations via Grafana Assistant.

Log context, now an experimental feature for all versions, lets users view events before and after a selected log line, with a configurable time window from 100 ms to 2 h.

The new log field selector lists all fields alphabetically with occurrence percentages, allowing users to toggle visibility and reorder fields.

Other Visualization Enhancements

Panel‑level time settings are now available through a “time settings drawer”, letting users define independent time ranges, offsets, comparisons, or hide the time display on the panel title.

Dashboards can be exported as PNG images directly from the UI.

A new Switch variable type enables quick toggling between two values (e.g., true/false) for boolean logic in dashboards.

Table cells can be styled with CSS via the “field style” option, using JSON to set colors, highlights, or formatting based on field values.

Data Source Expansions

Grafana Cloud and Enterprise now preview SolarWinds Enterprise data source for monitoring infrastructure metrics.

Amazon CloudWatch integration adds log anomaly detection and pattern recognition commands (anomaly, patterns, diff) in CloudWatch Logs Insights.

Databricks Enterprise data source supports Unity Catalog, inheriting Databricks permissions and lineage.

Honeycomb Enterprise data source now allows raw queries, flexible filtering, and variable substitution; enable with the honeycombEnableRawQuery flag.

OpenSearch data source receives a revamped PPL query editor with multiline editing, syntax highlighting, keyword suggestions, and index field recommendations.

A high‑severity CVE‑2025‑41115 security vulnerability is fixed in this release; users are advised to upgrade promptly.
