Microsoft has released Windows Subsystem for Linux version 2.7.0, which enables Linux binaries to run on Windows.

Linux kernel upgrade : WSL 2.7.0 ships with a downstream kernel based on Linux 6.6.114 LTS. Although newer LTS kernels (6.12, 6.18) are available, Microsoft remains on the 6.6 series and incorporates the latest fixes and security patches.

Security fixes and enhancements : The update includes multiple security patches and bug fixes that improve overall stability and safety.

Other improvements include:

Restored the WSL2_VM_ID environment variable.

Added various configuration optimizations and translation updates.

Fixed additional usability issues.
