MCM Award Structure

MCM Awards (Problems A, B, C)

The Ben Fusaro Award is given to an especially creative paper selected from the finalists.

The Frank R. Giordano Award, established in 2012, honors a paper that demonstrates outstanding capability during the modeling process.

ICM Awards (Problems D, E, F)

The Leonhard Euler Award is presented to a team chosen by the chief judge of ICM Problem D, based on criteria such as reaching the final or outstanding level, showcasing particularly creative and innovative modeling, and demonstrating strong interdisciplinary scientific understanding. It honors the 18th‑century Swiss applied mathematician known for his broad research, extensive publications, excellent teaching, and interdisciplinary work.

The Rachel Carson Award recognizes a team selected by the chief judge of ICM Problem E for using scientific theory and data in their modeling, honoring the American environmentalist whose book “Silent Spring” sparked a global environmental movement.

The Vilfredo Pareto Award, named after the Italian scholar and modeling expert, is granted to a team excelling in the strategy modeling problem (ICM Problem F), celebrating his contributions across engineering, sociology, economics, politics, mathematics, and philosophy.
