Li Nuo from NetEase opened the event, tracing the history of data visualization and analysis, and pointing out current challenges. He emphasized that agile visual analysis combines human creativity with computational power to achieve efficient human‑computer collaboration, and noted the limitations of AI such as AlphaGo in lacking domain‑specific knowledge and creative reasoning.

Evolution of Youzan’s Data Warehouse Metadata System

Song Yiqun from Youzan presented “The Evolution of Youzan’s Data Warehouse Metadata System.” He described how the data warehouse grew from scratch into a comprehensive metadata system, covering accuracy monitoring, performance monitoring, and security mechanisms. He concluded that a DW/BI system succeeds only when it gains user acceptance.

Deep Dive into Youzan’s Big‑Data Development Platform (DP)

Ren Haichao, also from Youzan’s big‑data team, dissected the DP platform. He explained the background that led to DP’s creation, its deployment, and then analyzed the platform’s architecture and functional design, highlighting encountered difficulties and the solutions adopted. From a user perspective, he demonstrated how DP addresses everyday data problems and outlined future directions: a simpler UI, smarter real‑time monitoring, and more flexible, efficient scheduling.

Functional Programming in Visual Data Analysis Engines

Luo Chen from NetEase discussed the paper “Functional Programming in Visual Data Analysis Engines.” He identified key technical challenges of visual data analysis engines—intelligent recommendation of visualization schemes, flexible chart rendering, direct integration of multiple data sources, and efficient SQL generation—and explained how functional programming techniques can address these issues.
