How Huawei’s FusionStage PaaS Empowers Cloud‑Native Enterprise Transformation

Huawei PaaS chief system engineer Yu Yue states that the previous generation of fragmented PaaS platforms could not meet enterprises' needs for agile development and rapid deployment. Based on years of enterprise application development practice, Huawei has launched the next‑generation PaaS product FusionStage to address these challenges.

Yu Yue explains that enterprises face several IT challenges: siloed applications with low resource utilization, monolithic architectures lacking agility and elasticity, and a split between development and operations that results in low automation and slow, difficult product upgrades.

For the top‑level domain services, Huawei intends to co‑build with experienced solution vendors or ISVs, providing a tailored unified platform that meets enterprises' needs for agile development, operation, and maintenance.

The PaaS kernel assists users with task scheduling, resource management, and service integration, allowing developers to focus on core business logic while leveraging existing common services for rapid, agile launches.

FusionStage’s development pipeline addresses end‑to‑end workflow integration. Yu Yue describes a two‑level pipeline: business process orchestration on top and pipeline orchestration below. The pipeline engine, built on container technologies, offers high flexibility and extensibility, can integrate existing toolchains, and supports custom components packaged as containers.

Key technical capabilities of FusionStage include:

Compatibility: northbound support for multiple application types and frameworks, including Kubernetes, Compose, Mesos, and Yarn.
