How iQ Dubbing Cuts Film Dubbing Time by Over 3× Using Deep‑Learning AI
iQ Dubbing, iQIYI’s AI‑driven dubbing platform, leverages deep‑learning models to automate voice‑over, international voice extraction, and sound‑effect creation, reducing dubbing turnaround from months to under a week and boosting efficiency more than threefold, as recognized by the 2022 ChinaMM Innovation Product award.
At the 2022 China Multimedia Conference (ChinaMM) held in Guiyang from July 20‑22, iQIYI’s self‑developed IQDubbing system won the “Innovation Product” award, alongside companies such as Xiaomi and iFLYTEK.
IQDubbing is a workflow‑oriented dubbing solution built on deep‑learning models. It applies AI capabilities to voice‑over, international voice extraction, and audio‑effect production, dramatically cutting personnel and time costs. The system can deliver dubbing within a week, a reduction from the traditional month‑long cycle, achieving more than a three‑fold efficiency increase.
The key to this boost is the ability to perform “one person, multiple roles.” Traditional dubbing requires a separate actor for each character to maintain quality, which is time‑consuming. IQDubbing offers over 40 multilingual voice styles; with just one or two actors, AI models intelligently match and convert voice timbres while preserving content and prosody, also handling post‑production tasks such as volume adjustment and sound‑effect addition.
In practice, the platform has been used for iQIYI’s domestic releases of the “007” series and overseas versions of titles like “Love, Dream‑Eating Boy!” and “One Lifetime.” It has provided Vietnamese dubbing for several dramas and Thai dubbing for “Qinzhan Suo Sanqian.” According to iQIYI’s 2022 Q1 financial report, IQDubbing has been widely applied in film dubbing, optimizing costs and driving revenue from long‑tail content.
