How Zoom’s AI “Digital Twin” Could Cut Your Workweek in Half

Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan said that an AI assistant will eventually help reduce a week’s workload.

At TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, Yuan shared his vision for AI in Zoom’s video‑conferencing product, highlighting a “digital twin” feature that lets an AI avatar speak on a user’s behalf.

He disclosed that he has begun using this AI avatar in earnings‑call meetings with investors to showcase the technology’s potential and to break communication limits.

During the Disrupt conference, the founder stressed the importance of devoting extensive time to discussing AI and identifying the right product to bring to market.

When asked about investment focus, Yuan replied, “AI, AI, and AI,” emphasizing Zoom’s belief that artificial intelligence can transform how we work and has become a central topic of the company’s strategic meetings.

Yuan noted that the AI assistant can do more than replace video meetings; for example, two executives could negotiate contracts through Zoom using the AI.

He suggested that instead of lengthy calls, their digital twins could collaborate on planning first.

The CEO also discussed how AI could help manage email by checking messages and identifying which are important or require replies.

Furthermore, Yuan believes AI can enhance Zoom’s broader solution suite, including online whiteboards and collaborative documents.

He admitted that currently he must manually monitor all these products to get work done, but AI will eventually provide assistance.

Yuan envisions that, within five years, the workweek could shrink to three or four days, aiming to eliminate the need for a five‑day work schedule.
