Insights from 14 IT Professionals on Real-World Problems Solved by Automation Testing
Improving speed, security, and scale for financial services, telecom, retail, healthcare, travel, and automotive industries.

To understand the current and future state of automation testing, we interviewed 14 IT professionals who are very familiar with it, asking: “What real-world problems have been solved by automation testing?”

The respondents shared the following insights:

Through API Discover and Inspect, a data leak of private customer data in the cloud caused by misconfiguration of overseas developers was discovered; now all daily changes are publicly monitored, and any required modifications must be tracked and detected.

We helped customers scale security by automating many manual backend processes, clarifying tool usage, improving understanding of security requirements, and standardizing verification to make testing easier.

As organizations undergo digital transformation, they must increase automation to keep pace with business expectations; test automation is essential for continuous testing, rapid delivery, and simulating services to isolate the system under test from unstable or costly external dependencies.

Clients with large manual regression suites (e.g., 1,500 UI regression tests taking weeks) benefited from replacing manual tests with automation, shortening cycle time, increasing coverage, and enabling agile teams to balance workloads between developers and testers.

Automation testing solves the core problem of continuously and reproducibly verifying flows and determining outcomes.

Automation shortens time‑to‑market, improves product quality, provides access to interfaces that are hard or impossible to test manually, and enables continuous delivery, which would not occur without test automation.

UI‑intensive applications with many workflows pose challenges for automation; maintaining tests after UI changes consumes significant engineering effort. A hybrid approach—combining internal automation with outsourced testing—is recommended to manage maintenance workload.

Reducing manual regression time allows testers to focus on higher‑value issues and gives developers confidence in the quality of their code.

Citi Bank’s digital focus program raised its application rating from 3 to 4.5, significantly improving time‑to‑market; we helped Spanx increase revenue through better UX, monitoring, and automation testing, and Cerner shortened its release and deployment cycles using our testing solutions.

A large U.S. telecom migrated on‑premises applications to the cloud, integrated across business domains, and leveraged out‑of‑the‑box CI/CD tools and testing to shorten development cycles, achieve weekly releases, continuously monitor app health, and accelerate feature delivery.

Automation testing is delivering tangible impact across industries; in travel, NIIT Technologies reduced functional risk, improved operational efficiency, achieved 99% system reliability, and helped a major U.S. airline expand rapidly, demonstrating faster growth, lower cost, and higher safety.

For e‑commerce digital wallets, we provide real‑time checkout validation across hundreds of sites, delivering instant reports to internal teams for merchant outreach, and perform global inventory verification (stock, size, color, price) as well as testing IoT automotive connected applications.
