VR House Viewing Technology: Lianjia Ke Holdings’ Immersive Real‑Estate Solution
This article describes how Lianjia's Ke Holdings launched VR house viewing technology, detailing the 3D scanning process, machine‑learning‑assisted modeling, immersive interactive features, development challenges, and cross‑team collaboration that brought immersive VR tours to over a million property listings.
On April 27, Ke Holdings' VR看房 (VR house viewing) was unveiled, aiming to provide immersive, interactive, real‑time VR tours of properties using virtual reality technology.
The production workflow consists of six steps: broker LINK order, photographer scan with proprietary equipment, raw material optimization and model generation, annotation (matching floor plans, adding analysis), human review, and functional addition such as tags,讲房 (VR讲房) and带看 (VR带看).
Machine learning is used to automate annotation once sufficient data is accumulated; the team tackled unknowns by fixing experienced components as constants, iterating architecture, and binding virtual viewing rooms to property, broker, and user IDs to solve synchronization issues.
By the end of April 2018 over ten thousand properties had been scanned, covering about 10% of Chengdu’s listings, and the system continues to be refined across five client platforms and seven business lines through continuous optimization and teamwork.
