WOVEN: World Modeling as Cross-Task Capability with 2K Samples Boosting 22 Benchmarks

Researchers from Northwestern, CMU, UNC, and Amazon introduce WOVEN, a framework that defines world modeling as state-transition prediction, creates a controllable benchmark with 36K questions, shows current models lack geometric reasoning, demonstrates that 2K training samples can teach world modeling efficiently, and proves it transfers to 22 downstream benchmarks, revealing that reasoning operation type matters more than action similarity for transfer.
