Ant Group and Nanyang Technological University Launch Collaboration on Private Set Intersection Privacy Computing

On July 25, Ant Group and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) signed a research‑industry collaboration agreement to explore privacy‑computing innovations centered on Private Set Intersection (PSI) using Ant Group’s “YinYu” framework as the research foundation.

The partnership will combine NTU’s SCRIPTS (Privacy‑Protecting Technology and Systems Research Strategic Center) expertise with Ant’s privacy‑computing R&D capabilities to design and implement specific PSI protocols, enhancing the efficiency and security of downstream privacy‑preserving machine‑learning and data‑analysis functions.

PSI is currently one of the most widely used privacy‑computing techniques; it enables collaborating parties to compute the intersection of their private data sets without revealing any non‑intersection information, thereby safeguarding data privacy in collaborative scenarios.

The collaboration aligns with broader regional initiatives, such as Singapore’s IMDA‑PDPC Privacy‑Enhancing Technologies sandbox and China’s recent policies that treat data as a marketable production factor and promote privacy‑preserving computation.

Similar academia‑industry joint efforts are emerging, for example, Tsinghua University’s “Privacy Computing and Blockchain Joint Research Center” with Ant, reflecting a growing trend of cooperative research in privacy‑computing technologies.

Since 2016 Ant has built an industrial‑grade privacy‑computing stack, open‑sourced core components like the YinYu framework, OcclumTEE OS, and HyperEnclaveTEE, and led global patent filings in the field, with applications across finance, healthcare, marketing, and government services.
